A CRM Under the Hood

Posted by:

A few weeks ago, I learned that my Saturn Vue runs on a Honda engine.

Not being a “Car Guy,” I sort of twisted my head and said, “Huh?  Whattya mean it has a Honda Engine?  Doesn’t it have a Saturn engine?”

Nope.  No Saturn engine.  Just a Honda engine.  And actually, a really good one to boot.

It took me a few minutes, however, to get my head around that:  so all this time I’ve been driving a Honda?

Well, sort of.  I mean, most of what I love about my car is very Saturn-y — the interior, the stereo, the controls, the design, the roominess.

But the Honda engine gives my car its power.  It’s what allows me to make those road trips out to TargetX clients.  It’s what gets my family around town.  It’s the beating heart of my car.

Last week, a few of us at TargetX had the opportunity to catch up with Tucker MacLean, VP of Customer Success at the Salesforce.com Foundation.  Over the past few years, Tucker has been an invaluable resource to the TargetX team as we’ve continued to grow and expand our Student Recruitment Manager.

Tucker chatted with us about the power of the platform and the magic that occurs when a company like TargetX works with Salesforce.com.

What I kept thinking about in our meeting was how much TargetX was like my Saturn.  Just like the powerful Honda engine in my car, the TargetX SRM runs off of the powerful engine of Salesforce.com.  And working with Salesforce allows us to build out all of the features that Higher Ed needs: we can turn our attention to the most relevant and immediate needs of Enrollment Professionals, building out the features that benefit Higher Ed most greatly.

As Tucker chatted with us about our partnership and where TargetX is headed in the future, I couldn’t help but feel that Road Trip-level of excitement building–

An amazing car.  A powerhouse engine.  Another recruitment cycle just down the road.

Time to get behind the wheel.
