TargetX was started by Brian Niles and Mike Crusi in 1998. As was often the case during the dot-com bubble, these two former college friends met at a bar one night and ended up talking about how to take advantage of the web-based technologies exploding around them. Brian was working as an enrollment and marketing director at a university in Philadelphia and Mike was an engineer at a small firm just outside the city. Brian told Mike of an idea he had for using the Internet to help recruit students. They grabbed a cocktail napkin and started making notes. A company was born.

Today, TargetX is the leading provider of interactive marketing technology and services in higher education, helping more than 400 colleges and universities recruit today's web-savvy students. In 1998 TargetX invented email recruiting, in 2003 it redefined interactive recruiting, in 2006 it introduced the "experience" into campus visit programs, and in 2007 TargetX introduced the first comprehensive student recruitment management solution.

While our accomplishments are measured by the success and satisfaction
of our clients, we are pleased to also be recognized for our leadership
and record of growth. For the past six years, TargetX has been
named to the Philadelphia 100 as one of the fastest growing,
privately held firms in the Philadelphia region. For the past
three years, we have been honored by Inc. magazine as
one of the fastest growing companies nationwide.
Our growth is based on superior customer service,
high-quality solutions, and one of the best teams
you'll find in the industry.

The Best Team in the Industry

As much as TargetX clients love our technology, strategy and creativity, they recognize that the company's greatest value comes from the experience and expertise of the TargetX team.

We've searched over the past 10 years to find the right mix of people who are so talented in their own special area and yet are such great people too. Nearly every person you see below has worked in admissions, enrollment management or higher education marketing.

As colleges continue to scramble to figure "it" out, this is the team to help you "overthrow dead culture" and embrace the recruiting revolution.

The TargetX Philanthropy Effort

TargetX has launched a program that integrates philanthropy and business in an effort to give back to its local communities and its higher education clients.

Patterned after the highly successful 1/1/1/ integrated corporate philanthropy model created by Salesforce.com, the global leader in software-as-a-service business applications, TargetX calls its initiative the “Power of X.”

Each year, TargetX will contribute 1% of its profits to a local cause, 1% of its products to associations that support college recruiting, and 1% of its payroll to allow employees to work for three days with a nonprofit organization in their community.

“We’re proud to be a member of the Salesforce Foundation Power of Us partner program and to embrace its 1/1/1 model,” says TargetX CEO Brian Wm. Niles. “Like Salesforce.com, we believe in integrating philanthropy into our corporate culture. We also believe that such an approach enhances employee performance and boosts morale. In addition to all that, it’s the right thing to do.”

We applaud organizations like TargetX who value the importance of taking an integrated approach to philanthropy. Together we can all make a difference by giving back the power of our resources to the
communities we do business in.

Canal Works

10 Canal Street has been many things in its history dating back to the late 1800's including a wallpaper mill, seed warehouse, radio manufacturer and now an office building. One of the unique aspects of the building today lies on the top floor — a series of artist studios that further enhances its charm. Here is a picture from 1910 when it was a wallpaper mill. Note the horse and buggy on the left side of the picture. Of course, it looks a lot different today!
